Finishing a new log cabin
After the builder was done, we stained the logs a deep reddish brown and the porch deck to go with them, finished the wide-plank loft floors and put up a tongue-and-groove ceiling.
We cover the porch, deck and ground first, then brush the finish into the logs and corners from ladders and, when we need to, from the roof.
On a new cabin, we can stain the outside and finish the floors inside.
We stain the porch deck so it goes with the logs.
Log stain wears with the weather, so plan on a fresh coat every few years. We're happy to come back and do it.

We took this log home from raw wood to an even amber finish, brushing the finish into the walls, corners, gable ends and dormers from ladders and from the metal roof.
This log home sits on a stone lower level. Its log siding is finished in an even orange-brown against dark brown trim.
