Staircase with stained oak treads, charcoal risers and stringer, black square balusters and oak handrail by exposed brick

Carpentry & built-ins

Albert Ayers loves the creative jobs, like a bookcase that swings open onto a hidden room.

We build it, then we paint it.

The same crew does the carpentry and the painting, so nothing gets lost between the carpenter and the painter.

  • Stairs and railings

We put in new treads, newel posts, handrails and spindles.

  • Built-ins

We build bookcases, cabinets, window seats and media walls.

  • Wainscoting

We put up beadboard and paneled wainscoting.

  • Trim and ceilings

We run new baseboard, casing and crown, and put up plank and tongue-and-groove ceilings.

  • Reworking a room

We pull beams, open up walls, frame new openings and add recessed lights.

  • Cabinets

We install new cabinets and rework old ones, even joining two into one.

Oak stair treads and two cabinets joined into one

We put oak treads on a worn staircase and painted the risers charcoal. It now has an oak rail and black balusters. Albert also joined two old cabinets into one three-door piece and painted it charcoal.

Taking the beams out of a vaulted great room

Interior painting

We took down the ceiling beams, added recessed lights, reworked the trim and put new spindles on the stair. Then we painted the whole room white.

Opening up a house of separate rooms

Kitchens · flooring · interior painting

The house was a series of separate, outdated rooms. We opened up walls between them, replaced the knotty pine kitchen with gray shaker cabinets, added a laundry nook, put in new flooring and painted throughout.

A walkout basement in Canandaigua

Canandaigua · basements · flooring · interior painting

Framing and electrical came first, then drywall, a black-painted open ceiling, plank flooring and trim. Now it's a family room, a lounge and a wet bar with a butcher-block counter.

Renovating an 1800s house

Older homes · bathrooms · flooring · interior painting

An outdated closet and toilet room had been added to this dining room. We took both out so it's one room again, added a second bathroom, restored the original wood floors and repainted.

Finishing a new log cabin

New construction · log homes · exterior painting · flooring

After the builder was done, we stained the logs a deep reddish brown and the porch deck to go with them, finished the wide-plank loft floors and put up a tongue-and-groove ceiling.
